چکیده

This present study empiricallyanalyzes the impact of fossil fuel energy consumption on CO2 emission for Pakistan using data from 1980-2010. Our broad objective is to test the environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) hypothesis and factors that affect the energy consumption. We have used Johansen Cointegrationapproach and a Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) to test the long run as well as short run relationship b/w variables. A log linear quadratic equation is specified to test the EKC hypothesis. Results support the existence of inverted U hypothesis.Industrial value added and trade openness positively affect the CO2 emission while financial development reduces the CO2 emission. Results of the energy consumption equation show that income, investment, population and manufacture export positively affect the energy consumption while manufacture import negatively affect the energy consumption.

Parametric Study of the Impact of Windows to Wall Ratio on Reduction of Energy Consumption and Environmental Impact of a Zero-Energy Building in Different Orientations

Nowadays, the increase of fossil fuel consumption intensifies the crucial role of architects. As buildings consume over one-third of the used energy, the society of architects is held responsible for this consumption. Therefore, the amount of energy used by a building is directly related to its design; meaning that reduction of energy consumption should be targeted at the design stage. In this ...

ANNEX 2 Methodology and Data for Estimating CO2 Emissions from Fossil Fuel Combustion 2.1. Methodology for Estimating Emissions of CO2 from Fossil Fuel Combustion

The bottom-up methodology used by the United States for estimating CO2 emissions from fossil fuel combustion is conceptually similar to the approach recommended by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) for countries that intend to develop detailed, sectoral-based emission estimates (IPCC/UNEP/OECD/IEA 1997). Total consumption data and adjustments to consumption are presented in C...

Does Non-Fossil Energy Usage Lower CO2 Emissions? Empirical Evidence from China

This paper uses an autoregressive distributed lag model (ARDL) to examine the dynamic impact of non-fossil energy consumption on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in China for a given level of economic growth, trade openness, and energy usage between 1965 and 2014. The results suggest that the variables are in a long-run equilibrium. ARDL estimation indicates that consumption of non-fossil energy ...
